How to Install Bodaq® Interior Film

This guide covers dry application of Bodaq® Interior Film on interior furniture, walls, cabinetry, doors, and millwork. Surface Supply is the Official Authorized US Distributor of Bodaq® Interior Film, manufactured by Hyundai L&C. It is not a 3M DI-NOC procedure. For DI-NOC, use the 3M DI-NOC installation guide.

Tools

  • Felt-wrapped squeegee
  • Snap-off knife and spare blades
  • Steel ruler
  • Heat gun for edges and 3D work
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloths
  • Masking tape and measuring tape

Browse installation tools if you need them in the same order as film.

Surfaces that work

Bodaq bonds best to smooth, sealed interiors: painted MDF, sealed gypsum, metal, glass, and many plastics. Unsealed drywall, raw wood, and porous stone will not hold the adhesive reliably. Seal porous substrates and let coatings fully cure before you wrap.

Temperature and method

Install between 12°C and 38°C. Bodaq is a dry application: do not wet the adhesive.

  1. Measure the surface and cut film with extra material for trim.
  2. Score a set line in the release liner so you can position the first band of adhesive.
  3. Set the film, then pull liner in short sections.
  4. Squeegee from the center outward on each newly exposed band so air leaves at the edges.
  5. Trim, then re-squeegee all edges and seams.

Seams and 3D

Keep grain direction and production lot the same across a seam. Use a double-cut on flat work when you need a tight joint; use an overlap on corners and 3D. Warm the film to conform around edges. Do not overheat. Leave extra film to wrap to the back of doors and panels.

Cure and care

Adhesive continues to build for 3–7 days. Avoid heavy cleaning, edge picking, and impact during that window. After cure, wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap. Skip abrasives and harsh solvents unless the specific pattern's care note says otherwise.

Fire ratings

Every Bodaq interior finish is fire rated to ASTM E84 Class A for US interior use, with per-series results to CAN/ULC-S102 and DIN 4102-1 as well. A fire rating is not a reason to skip surface prep: the film performs as tested only when it is bonded to a sound, sealed substrate. For a submittal, ask Surface Supply for the current report and pattern-code mapping for the series you are installing. See Bodaq fire ratings.
